Out of all the compelling events organised by the Sport’s Committee of NMIMS, Navi
Mumbai, the Box Cricket was one to look forward to. Box cricket was held in the college
campus between 15th
– 16th October, 2019. Students from every school on the campus
participated in the event. Interestingly, the faculty and staff of the college also showed willing
participation with the opening match beginning with the faculty and staff teams. Both the
teaching and the non-teaching staff were involved with active participation. The involvement
of faculties with the students reflected the student teacher bond at NMIMS.
There were twelve participating teams, namely – Chainkhulli Ki Main Khulli, The Bandits,
PGDM, Cozy Dorns, Emperor’s Den, SOHM, Gangs of Wasseypur, CS Rangershack, Cricket
Khelenge, Jetha Ke Jaabaaz, Black bulls, Black devils, and Simple. The enthusiasm over sports
competitions are always a buzz in the college, with both the students and staff waiting for it
with utmost thrill. It is with events of this sort, NMIMS, Navi Mumbai shows true example of
fun and learning at campus, providing the students an edge of both of the worlds at its best.
Six winning teams qualified for Round 2 which held on 16th October. The winning teams of
Round 2 comprised of – Emperor’s Den, CS Rangershack, Black Devils, and The Bandits.
Mention worthy, there was also an all-girls team which inspired a lot of girls to come up to
play more sports in the future endeavours of the sports committee. The participation was from
across the campus with all the schools such as STME, SBM, SOHM and SOC.
The semi-finals were won by Black Devils and Emperor’s Den. This was ensued by the finals,
ultimately won by Emperor’s Den (STME), awarded with medals and certificates for their
rousing triumph.
